Bridal Fairs 101...take 3!

This is my last post on my adventures at Bridal Fairs, I promise! This past Sunday FI Fishie and I treked out into the cold and snow into the middle of nowhere to battle HUGE crowds in a SMALL space. It reminded me of the dinosaur in Meet The Robinsons; "I'm just not sure how well this plan was thought through"

New Weddingbee Icons...Sea Creatures

Ok seriously? I love love love weddingbee I literally spend hours and hours a day on the site reading the blogs and logging onto the discussion boards. But, now I'm a little disappointed since my wedding is 18 months away and they chose to bring out the sea creature icons for their "bee" bloggers now? Ahh...oh well, maybe by the time I'm eligible to apply to be a "bee" (not until next year, it has to be only 8 months until the wedding for you to be a "bee") they'll come out with a lovely fishie icon just for me. Until then, I'll just sit and stare at the lovely-ness that is the newest generation of bees.

Questioning Our Date Choice

The first thing people ask when they find out we're getting married? "Oh, when's the date?" I swear, sometimes I debate just having it tattooed on my forehead or something:'I'm getting married 8.20.11...now stop asking!' but that's only when I'm tired and irritated. After that, then the inevitable question "Oh, aren't you a little young? Are you waiting until you finish school?" I've never truly understood why people feel the need to ask those questions but for whatever reason they do, and I feel the need to explain our reasons for setting the date that we did.

Marriage Advice

As some of you know, I work in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant (aka: Professional Butt Wiper). The best part of my job? The AMAZING residents who have a tendancy to give some of the best advice, I was working the other day and being that it was the day after valentine's day my resident felt the need to give me a little bit of wisdom that I thought I'd share with you...

"After (dear husband) died, and I had to look around that house at all the stuff, all the trinkets and gifts that I'd gotten through the years. I realized that none of it mattered because he was gone, and that was the hardest part for me...living without him" ~Resident M~

I don't know about you, but FI Fishie and I fight sometimes and there are times when he annoys the crap out of me but if I ever lost him I don't know what I do. I told him that I plan to die first because without him, I'd die on the inside anyway. We may not have had the typical love story but, it works for us. Valentine's day may be over but I want to encourage everyone to tell the person you love how much you care about them...you never know what day will be your last.

Bridal Fairs 101...take 2!

Alright, so I wrote about my experience at the Beginnings Bridal Fair here, and since then I have been to two more bridal fairs. First was the Wedding Showcase up north in Siren, WI. Then just yesterday, we treked out into the snow for the Sweethearts Bridal Fair here in Menomonie. After 3 bridal fairs, I think I'm starting to become kind of an expert on these shindigs. And yet, I'm slated to go to just one more next week...poor FI Fishie thank goodness he likes going for the free cake!

So, without further ado I present Bridal Fairs 101...take 2.

MS Research

This post is totally and completely un-related to wedding planning but I had to post it. Podunk Studioz, a video game design company, is collecting donations for MS Research. They'll be broadcasting live feed of them playing retro mario games for the next 72 hrs and collecting donations to benefit MS Research. Visit their website at http://www.podunkstudioz.com/ this is near and dear to my heart since if you'll recall MS is the terrible disease that took my mother's life 4 years ago. Any donations are appreciated thank you!

How the Fishies Got Engaged

The story of our engagement is not an overly romantic story, and no one from Hollywood will be calling for the movie rights anytime soon but it just goes to prove that we're more Abbott and Costello then Harry and Sally.

When Abbott Met Costello: Part 3

Now, can you understand why it's taken me so long to write this post? Good gracious it's been a long journey getting from “Friend” to “Fiancee” but I promise this will be the last “How we met” post. So when we left off FI Fishie and I had just had our “non-date” date but in true Abbott and Costello fashion I didn't realize how great of a guy he is, well I did but I was still with ex-FI at the time so I couldn't admit it. Things with ex-FI slowly got worse and worse until it reached the point where I was spending more time with FI Fishie and lying to my ex about it. And my excuses were lame to boot I wasn't really hiding anything “Honey I'm just gonna run to the store I'll be back later” and those “later”s turned into 3 to 4 hr long “trips to the store”.

When Abbott Met Costello: Part 2

So when we left yesterday, my ex-FI had done yet another stupid thing to piss me off- in the course of our 18 month relationship that happened a lot! So I made a phone call to FI Fishie and told him to “Get in his pretty little car and drive” and meet me at the movie theater. Did I go into this thinking it would be our first date? No! I was steaming mad and needed to get out of my house and FI Fishie was the only one who responded to my text message.

When Abbott Met Costello

I thought it was about time I told you how the Fishies got together or as I like to call it: “When Abbott Met Costello”.
